When Datecs began working with Foregenix in 2018, they were looking for help with their first VISA PIN assessment. We wanted to know how well we were doing so we talked with Pavel Stoev, the Security Management Department Manager at Datecs who has been part of the company for over 10 years.
With their HQ in Bulgaria, and offices around the world, Datecs is a leading manufacturer, developer, and seller of Point-Of-Sale (POS) solutions.
“We started to produce payment terminals around 10 years ago,” he told us, “And, began producing a lot more in the last five years. In 2019, for example, we produced 1.3 million devices; we’ve become one of the biggest manufacturers in Europe, and around the world. Right now, in more than 100 countries around the globe, there is either an ECR, printer, or payment terminal manufactured by Datecs.”
How did Datecs and Foregenix start working together?
Here’s how it went, through Pavel’s perspective:
“We started to work with Foregenix 2 years ago, with our first VISA PIN assessment, as VISA wanted us to be assessed by another authorised company, and not just their auditors. We were looking for a good company to work with, and as we have an office in the UK -- Datecs UK -- we reached out to Foregenix.”
From the start we built an excellent relationship and supported them to get through the assessment without a problem. Communication is key, especially when it comes to cybersecurity. Keeping transparent and clear, our teams worked together to forge a mutual understanding about any issues or questions.
“We were happy with the Foregenix's assessments, and continued working with them to certify our own KIF and payment application. We saw that they were working with big companies and with the experience and good customer service at Foregenix, we didn’t even think about another option.”
The Overall Experience
Pavel praised the communication between the teams. He mentioned that our team kept them well-informed and worked through any issues together. On asking about his experience with Foregenix, he said:
“The work with Foregenix, during our assessments, has been great. I’ve received healthy feedback and explanations of the standards, which was beneficial for us since, when we started working together, it was our first assessment; it was a lot of new territory for us.”
“For the Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE), or any other assessment” he added, “We’re not looking for any other company. We’re planning on working with Foregenix for the foreseeable future because, as so far, our experience has been perfect.”
